About
We look after the stores nobody else wants to.
E-Store Manager manages Shopify stores for small businesses in Canada and the United States. We have worked on 100+ of them. We specialise in the least glamorous work in ecommerce: keeping a small store accurate, working and findable when there is nobody inside the business whose job that is.
Why this exists
There is a gap in the market and it is a bad one.
A small business with a Shopify store has three realistic options and none of them fit. Hiring someone costs more than the channel earns. An agency's minimum retainer is several thousand a month and what they sell is strategy, which is not the problem. A freelancer is affordable and then gets busy and disappears.
So the work does not get done. The store sits there, quietly decaying, and the owner knows it and cannot face it. Prices drift from reality. Products that stopped existing stay listed. Something breaks in a theme update and nobody notices for months. None of it appears on an invoice, which is exactly why it persists.
That is the entire gap we work in. Not growth, not strategy, not a rebrand. The unglamorous, repetitive, genuinely important job of keeping a shop tidy, done consistently by people who know Shopify well enough to do it quickly.
It is only affordable because we do it across many stores. An hour of specialist attention is expensive bought alone and cheap bought in a batch, which is how a plan costs less per month than a day of agency time.
What we are not. Not an agency, not a growth consultancy, not a marketing team. We do not run ads, set strategy or design brands. If that is what you need, we will tell you rather than take the money.
How we work. We work Eastern Time hours, which overlaps the whole Canadian and US business day. Everything happens inside your own Shopify admin through scoped collaborator access you control. A real person replies within one business day.
How we operate
Six rules we do not break.
These exist because the buyer for this service is being asked to hand over their storefront to people they have never met. Every one of them is a constraint on us, not a promise about outcomes.
We tell you when you should not pay us
If your store has no traffic, maintaining it will not help. If you need brand strategy, we are the wrong shop. If a free Shopify setting solves your problem, we will point at it. Saying this costs us revenue in the short term and is the only way a supplier you cannot supervise earns trust.
No commission, no kickbacks
We take no affiliate fee, referral cut or revenue share from any app, theme or tool we recommend. The most common bad advice in this industry is an app recommendation with money attached to it, and the only defence is to have none.
You keep control of access
We work through Shopify's own collaborator system, never a shared password. You grant specific permissions, every action is logged by Shopify independently of us, and you can revoke access yourself at any moment without asking.
No contracts, ever
Month to month, nothing upfront, cancel whenever. A contract is a way of keeping clients who would otherwise leave. If a month goes by where you cannot see what you paid for, leaving should be easy, and it is.
Plain English, always
Monthly notes are a paragraph, not a dashboard. Nobody running a small business wants to interpret a report about their own store. If we cannot explain what we did in language you already use, we have not understood it well enough ourselves.
We only claim what is true
No invented client logos, no borrowed case studies, no numbers we cannot show the working for. Where we do not have proof yet, the page says less rather than more. It is a slower way to build a site and the only one that survives contact with a customer.
Being straight about it
Who should not hire us.
Anyone who needs strategy. If the question is what to sell, to whom, or how to be different, that is not us. We execute decisions; we do not make them.
Anyone with a demand problem. If not enough people want what you sell, a well-maintained store just means a tidy shop with no customers. We would rather say that in an email than bill for it monthly.
Anyone who needs someone in the room. If your work needs a person physically present, with your stock, in your shop, at a photoshoot, hire locally for that part.
Anyone who could just do it themselves and would. Plenty of small stores should be self-maintained. Take the free check, fix the list yourself, and keep your money. That is a good outcome and it happens often.
Still think we might fit? The prices are all public, or email us and a person will reply.
How we work
Why this is safe to try.
Not promises. Six things about how this works that you can check for yourself, including the two that cost us money.
You never share a password
Access is granted through Shopify's own collaborator system. You choose the permissions, Shopify logs every action independently of us, and you can revoke access yourself at any time without asking.
No contract, no notice period
Every plan is month to month with nothing to pay upfront. There is no minimum term to argue your way out of, which is the point: we have to be worth paying again each month.
Every price is published
No discovery call needed to find out what we charge. Plans, hourly rates and the one-off option are all on the pricing page, so you can rule us out without speaking to anyone.
No commission on anything we recommend
No affiliate fee, referral cut or revenue share from any app, theme or tool we suggest. If we recommend something, we earn the same whether you use it or not.
A person replies within one business day
You talk to whoever is doing the work, not an account manager relaying messages. We do not monitor overnight, and we would rather say that than imply cover we do not provide.
We tell you when not to hire us
If your problem is demand rather than execution, or the store is small enough to maintain yourself, that is what the free check will say. It costs us work and saves you money.
What actually happens
The first month, step by step.
Nothing is committed until the fourth step. Onboarding for a monthly plan takes about two weeks.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | You send a store URL. Nothing else, no call, no access. |
| Within a few days | You get the written check: what is costing you orders, worst first, with a rough sense of what each fix takes. |
| Only if you want to continue | You grant scoped collaborator access. We agree what gets fixed first and what we are leaving alone. |
| Week one and two | The first pass. This is the slow one, because a neglected store has a backlog before it has a routine. |
| End of each month | One short note in plain English: what changed, what we found, what we would do next. Cancel any month. |
